“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” — Ephesians 6:12
There was a season in my life when everything felt personal.
The criticism. The conflict. The sudden tension in relationships that once felt steady.

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” — Hebrews 12:2
Everything begins and moves forward when our eyes are on Him. Jesus is not only the One who saves us, He is the One who calls us, shapes us, and leads us into more than we thought possible. When we truly see Him, comfort can no longer hold us back and fear no longer gets the final word.

“I saw heaven standing open, and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True.” – Revelation 19:11
There was a night I sat across from someone who had walked through more loss than I could understand— the kind that changes the way a person breathes, prays, and sees the world. They told me, “People keep saying God is faithful, but everything in my life feels broken.” In that moment, “faithful” didn’t sound comforting to them. It sounded distant, like a word meant for someone else’s story.

“Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.” — John 13:3–4
The day after Valentine’s Day always makes me think about the kind of love that doesn’t photograph well.

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.” – Revelation 20:11-12
This scene is sobering and awesome all at once. The great white throne reminds us that history is not random and justice is not imaginary. One day, every life will stand before God. No titles, excuses, or comparisons survive that moment. What remains is truth…

“What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth?” the man cried out. “Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”— Mark 1:24
In this brief but jarring moment, an unclean spirit recognizes Jesus immediately. Before theology is sorted out and before faith is formed, evil already knows the truth—Jesus is holy, and His presence changes everything…

“18Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.19Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, ‘Why couldn’t we drive it out?’20He replied, ‘Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.’” — Matthew 17:18–20
The disciples had been walking with Jesus for more than two years when this exchange took place…

“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” – Luke 6:36

“But where sin increased, grace increased all the more.” – Romans 5:20b
When we think of grace, we see it as one of God’s most beautiful, innate characteristics. And rightly so. But Scripture reminds us that wrath is also part of His nature — His holy, righteous response to sin……

“For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.” – Lamentations 3:31-32
There’s something to be said for living in a bubble. Never having to face the heartache of existing in a broken world as a broken person among other broken people. Wouldn’t it be so much better if we could just shun relationships, ignore the news, and hole up in a tiny home somewhere close to a town with necessities—but not so close that anyone would drop by except for tea and a slice of pie?

Romans 12:19 – “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord.”
Ah, revenge.
There’s something deeply satisfying about imagining the ones who hurt us stumbling—maybe even falling flat on their face. It feels like power reclaimed. Like we’re taking back the dignity they stole from us in their own moment of darkness….

Micah 7:19 – “You will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.”
The name of Jesus carries an unmistakable weight. For some, it’s a name of healing, hope, and reverence. For others, it’s used as a curse in moments of frustration. For others still…

James 1:14 – “But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.”
Temptation doesn’t discriminate. No one is immune.
Sometimes it comes in obvious forms—addiction, lust, rage. Other times, it’s more subtle—gossip, self-righteousness, gluttony, the kind of sins we’re tempted to justify or ignore.
But the process is the same: temptation begins with desire.
And when we follow that desire—when we dwell on it, feed it, act on it—it gives birth to sin. A single thought becomes a choice, and then a pattern. What once felt like curiosity can become a slow corrosion of the soul.
So how do we resist?
If we could rescue ourselves from sin, why are we still so broken? Why do we keep going back to the very things we swore we’d never touch again?
Because we can’t fix what’s broken in us.
Not fully. Not without help.
No amount of science or supplements or self-discipline can repair what James calls “our own desire.” The problem goes deeper than behaviour. It’s spiritual.
The truth is the chains of addiction are more than physical. Spiritual warfare plays out not just in the visible world but in the unseen realm—where temptation isn’t just psychological, it’s personal. And its grip is deadly.
But so is grace.
The cross doesn’t just forgive sin—it breaks its power.
Reflection
What temptation are you facing right now?
Have you ever given in and felt lost in the fallout?
What did your path back to God look like—or are you still searching for it?
Remember, God’s not afraid of your struggle. He’s already stepped into it – and won’t leave your side.
